An important pendulum clock with an eventful... - Lot 205 - L'Huillier & Associés
An important pendulum clock with an eventful shape in marquetry called "Boulle" decorated with brass, tortoiseshell and a rich gilded bronze decoration with scrolls. The "lion's paws" feet surmounted by scrolls, foliage, dolphins and rockeries. A grimacing helmet putto thrones at the top, arrows, quivers and standards. The gilt bronze dial with enamelled plates with Roman numerals for the hours, months of the year, and two circular dials indicating the days of the month, one at 31, the other at 29 1/2 forming moon phases. It is signed Thuret. Movement engraved Thuret in Paris (wear and tear and parts of marquetry to be refixed, missing veneer, broken glass). 19th century work in the Louis XIV style. 87 x 70 x 25 cm It rests on an attached base decorated with a Boulle marquetry, ornamented with gilded bronze friezes.
