Reliquary of Saint WALBURGE (ca. 710 - 779) (GAUBURGE or WALBURGA) in book form, the binding of which is covered with a burgundy silk velvet embroidered on the edge with the Saint's name and one of the plates embroidered with the monogram "GEORG" surrounded by foliage scrolls. It opens with a dish revealing 20 compartments each containing a bulb closed by a silk cloth embroidered with a letter. The back of the lid is decorated with a vellum painted with the saints' gouache: Saint Richard king of England known as Le Pelerin (779) Saint Boniface - Saint Willibald - Saint Winebald - Queen Wuna? and Saint Walburge in the center. Silver clasp engraved with rinceaux and crosses with traces of illegible punches (two broken bulbs, missing, worn) eighteenth century 18 x 12 x 4 cm Provenance: - Collection of an apostolic nuncio from the middle of the XIXth century. - Kept in his family until today. One of the most famous oils of the Holy Christians is the oil of Saint Walburge. Her relics are kept in the church of Eichstadt in Bavaria.
