Attributed to the House of BAPST Brooch in yellow gold 18 k (750 thousandths) and silver (925 thousandths) set with diamonds of old size of which one more important in the center of approximately two carats forming a daisy and four diamonds of approximately one carat in a foliated surrounding of small diamonds and roses. (pin system of the brooch reported) Napoleon III period No goldsmith's mark. Gross weight: 22.1 g - Height: 5 cm - Width: 5 cm In its case probably of origin inscribed: "BAPST 20 rue de Choiseul Paris". The traces on the blue velvet of the case let guess the two missing lower and upper parts. Provenance: Parisian family case. BAPST, an important firm founded in Paris under Louis XV, worked for the court and the Orleans family, exhibited at the Universal Exhibitions of 1855, 1867 and 1878, and existed until 1930. Since the reign of Louis XV, the name of Bapst reigns over the high jewellery of Paris. The reign of Napoleon III was particularly rich for the family, Paul-Alfred designing many of the Empress's jewels, mounted with the crown jewels. The House of Bapst moved to rue de Choiseul in 1861.
