Henri d'Artois, Count of Chambord (1820-1883). Lot including a cord and a pair of buttons: * Piece of large black silk cordon edged with silver threads, accompanied by a handwritten paper indicating that it is a piece of ribbon from the funeral ceremony of the Count of Chambord. Provenance: - Souvenir of Frohsdorf made following the death of Henry V on August 24, 1883, or on the occasion of his funeral on September 3, 1883, in the cathedral of Gorizia. - Walsh de Serrant family. * Pair of silver (800 thousandths) mourning breastplate buttons with a niello decoration of pastilles, applied with a gold fleur-de-lis. Preserved in their original black silk velvet case stamped with the figure of Henry V, Count of Chambord. Provenance : - Present probably offered on the occasion of the funeral of Henri V, September 3, 1883, in the cathedral of Gorizia. - Walsh de Serrant family. Henri d'Artois, grandson of France, duke of Bordeaux, is a prince of the royal family of France, head of the Capetian house of Bourbon, better known by his courtesy title of count of Chambord, born on September 29, 1820 at the Tuileries palace in Paris, and died on August 24, 1883 at the castle of Frohsdorf in Lanzenkirchen in Austria. Grandson of King Charles X, head and last representative of the eldest and French branch of the House of Bourbon, he was a pretender to the Crown of France from 1844 until his death under the name of Henri V. In June 1883, Henri d'Artois suffered from a digestive disease, from which he died in exile in Frohsdorf on August 24, 1883, the eve of St. Louis Day. The funeral of Henri V took place on September 3 in the cathedral of Gorizia, he was buried near his sister Louise and Charles X, the dauphin and the dauphine, outside the city, in the convent of Kostanjevica.
