JBL Paragon D44000 Three-way stereo audio... - Lot 101 - L'Huillier & Associés
JBL Paragon D44000 Three-way stereo audio system featuring the following JBL speakers: Tweeter 075, Midrange 375 (wax seals on the screws), Boomers LE15A, (Suspensions changed, blue chassis). All the components have been remagnetized. The crossovers are of the type: N 7000 - LX5 (rear veneer, rear bottom not original) Height : 93 cm - Width : 264 cm - Depth : 75 cm Designed by Richard Ranger, consultant for JBL, this system had to answer the constraints of spacialization and positioning of the musicians during the sound retranscription. Ranger was committed to sound coherence and to the fact that the projected sound had to remain locatable in space, even when the listeners were moving. With the help of JBL and industrial designer Arnold Wolf, the idea of building a cabinet with precise acoustic characteristics became a reality. The interior of the cabinet and the curved front were to provide a realistic stereo image. As such, the position of the midrange drivers on the curved front panel creates the impression of a large and spacious stereo image. JBL marketed the Paragon from 1957 to 1983 and nearly a thousand units were manufactured by a team totally dedicated to its construction. This prestigious set cost a small fortune when it was released and was so famous that J.F. Kennedy offered a copy to General de Gaulle.
