Chinese long skirt - Emperor Sou Chong's stage costume can b - Lot 2
Chinese long skirt - Emperor Sou Chong's stage costume can be made with older panels. First part of the XXth century. It is made with a cotton waistband with a sliding belt with a button system to maintain with straps. The form starts in 4 large panels of red damask silk alternated with large hollow pleats with a black silk background. The borders are enhanced with a gold braid. The red damask is also bordered with fine embroidery of Chinese inspiration and large sinograms in cornely embroidery of golden thread. The interior is lined with a cotton canvas with the handwritten name "Sou Chong". One size fits all. The cornely borders are flawed and tapered in some places. Small stains, rubbing marks and pulled threads throughout. Soiling of the fabric and dusty smell. The name Sou Chong refers to the German operetta: Das land des lächelns by Ludwig Herzer and Fritz Löhner in the 20s Provenance : Trunks and attics of the Château de la Maroutière
