Hat by CAROLINE REBOUX. Haute couture spring summer - early 1940s The model is made of black sisal straw. The shape is an oval cap that fits the skull with a tucked edge shaped as a pleat on the front. This base is used as a support for a garnish of flowers shaped as roses placed in a bouquet on the front. The flowers are made of various materials of velvet, organza and rayon in shades of pink and fuchsia. Some green leaves enhance the set. The interior is lined with a black velvet braid and the hat has an elastic band. The label is sewn on the base: Caroline Reboux 9 Avenue Matignon Paris. Span of the top: Length (nose to neck): 35 cm Width (ear to ear); 26 cm Head circumference (at the level of the velvet band); 55 cm The hat comes with a box of the house. Good condition. The flowers are a bit flattened and wrinkled due to bad storage with very rare glue marks. The box is in poor condition with various dust, stains and moisture distortions as well as tears at the edges. Provenance : Trunks and attics of the Château de la Maroutière
