Embroidered silk hanging. Indochina. Beginning of the XXth century. The model is realized on a yellow ochre colored silk. The whole is entirely hand embroidered with silk threads and cannetille. The scene represents an animated landscape with a meadow and its river at the bottom. The ? of the composition are occupied by branches of maple and cherry trees whose petals of flowers constellate the curtain. The landscape is animated by several birds in flight or posed on a branch. The whole is framed by a flowery embroidery in two shades of beige. The panel is fully lined with a cotton fabric of burgundy color. The hanging was mounted in curtain with some brass rings still present. Dimensions Height: 315 cm Width at the bottom: 176 cm Width at the top: 151 cm Condition: Ochre yellow is faded throughout with some shade changes. Few small stains on the bottom and loose threads. Two small tapered spots on the upper left edge and rare small pinholes throughout. Rings have been applied to the back.
