In-12, ORIGINAL EDITION. Bound in 19th century red morocco signed Ferd JENNEN, decorated on the boards with small irons of foliated foliage in reserves and fleur-de-lis at the corners, spine ribbed and titled, situated and dated. A plate representing Saint Martin cutting his coat. The work of the Benedictine Dom Jean-Étienne Badier (1650-1719) is divided into three books: the first deals with the monastic state from its origins; the second attempts to demonstrate that Saint Martin and his followers were monks (the author opposes in this respect the Life of Saint Martin by Nicolas Gervaise); the third deals with the history of the abbey of Marmourtier and the basilica of Saint Martin of Tours. Provenance : An apartment of a family in Rennes
