ORIGINAL EDITION OF THE TRANSLATION of Gabriel Chappuys of Tours and first complete edition. Beautiful bilingual edition with a neat typography, due to the Parisian publisher Abel l'Angelier and dedicated to the Noble and Virtuous Ladies.the anonymous translation of 1531 for Jean Longis was considered for a long time as the first French translation of the Flammette before the discovery in 2010 of a copy of an edition of 1526 at Claude Nourry. These incomplete translations, the one of 1531 stops at chapter VI, were improved only in 1585 with the quality and integral translation of Gabriel Chappuys with assumed didactic aims: " Faite Françoise et Italienne, pour l'utilité de ceux qui désirent apprendre les deux langues ".An extremely active translator in the second half of the 16th century (from 1574 to 1613), Gabriel Chappuys, a scholar from Tours and historiographer of France, contributed greatly to the diffusion of Italian literature in France (Doni, Ariosto, Castiglione).
