ROLEX - SEA-DWELLER. REF. 1665 COMEX. N° 2155. PRODUCED IN 1979 Diver's wristwatch in steel. Case: screw-down crown and case back, small helium valve on case middle, case back inscribed: 'Rolex, Comex', N° 2155, case back interior inscribed 1665, without double numbering. Plexi Tropic. Dial: not original, without 'Comex' logo, corresponds to a 'great white' Mark I type. Patinated hour-markers and hands, central seconds and date window. Movement: automatic, cal. 1570, N° D879'758. Strap: Rolex Oyster, ref. 93150/585, folding clasp inscribed VD (1979). Dial, case and movement signed. Numbered 6'191'531. Diam. 40 mm. With: Dubail estimate dated 30/10/2024. Provenance: gift in 1987 from Comex diver Jean-Pierre Besnard to the current owner's husband. Ref. 1665 for Comex was produced between 1977 and 1981, with a rough estimate of around 300 pieces delivered. The typography of the caseback corresponds to a particular 2nd-generation series (Mark II sub-series) reminiscent of the latest 5514s, with Comex numbers between 2100 and 2199. The model presented does not have double numbering engraved inside the caseback, as is sometimes the case. The original dial, with the 'Comex' logo also known as 'Pisani', was changed at the time to a classic 'Great White' dial (Mark I) with the wording 610 m. Expert: Géraldine RICHARD
