HERMÈS Paris - Carré de soie - Les beaux jours des bonsaï- Catherine Baschet - 1991 - Unique original edition with light pink border. A Chinese technique codified by the Japanese around the year 1000, the art of bonsai is the subject of a multitude of sub-classifications. Size, species and composition make each miniature tree a unique, man-made work of art. The oldest is said to be a Pinus Parviflora from the year 1500, which lives happily in Tokyo's Takagi Bonsai Museum. The square is titled "Bonsaï" on a pot and signed Hermès Paris at the bottom.
