ELIPSON. Maison de la Radio's legendary "RELIGIOUS" three-wa - Lot 47
ELIPSON. Maison de la Radio's legendary "RELIGIOUS" three-way monophonic loudspeaker, featuring the following three drivers superimposed in an ovoid shape: Tweeter (Melodium microphone), Midrange (Cabasse M12), Bass (Princeps TW2). All connected to a tube amplifier, the Tri-Phonique "SE. 5A 77B", manufactured in Arcueil by SACM. These three channels are divided into the following frequencies: Bass: "40 - 1125 Hz", Midrange: "1125 Hz - 6800 Hz", Treble: "6800 Hz - 20,000 Hz". Production years: 1962 to 1966. (Original loudspeakers, chemical capacitors replaced, including those in the headers, for all three amplifiers, soldering checked and reworked, quiescent currents adjusted. Addition of a balanced/unbalanced box (RCA/XLR) to which it is possible to connect a mixer, HiFi preamp or even a Bluetooth receiver). Total height: 156 cm - Height of ovoid sphere: 103 cm - Height of cubic base: 51 cm - Width: 51.5 cm - Depth: 51.5 cm This "Studio Listening Cabinet" is the result of research carried out in the late 50s by Joseph Léon, Elipson's designer and director from the late 40s, and his team. The aim was to create a "standard" loudspeaker for the sound engineers at R.T.F. (Radiodiffusion Télévision Française). After three years of research, a 3-way loudspeaker named "VOIES" was created, and a patent was filed in August 1962. Extract from the patent:"This sound reproducer consisting of several loudspeakers each specialized in a given frequency band, is characterized in that each of its loudspeakers is itself constituted by a membrane and a spherical enclosure, more or less deformed; and in that these loudspeakers are arranged directly one above the other, with the same longitudinal plane of symmetry, without attachment to a common panel, and slightly offset in depth from one another along said common plane of symmetry, to obtain that the sounds emitted by two successive channels are in phase concordance." Given the nature of the components making up the equipment, Etude L'Huillier cannot be held responsible for any malfunction occurring after the auction. An exhibition is also planned to check the condition of the items. Please also note that electronic equipment will be entrusted to the Hôtel Drouot warehouse after the sale, and that storage charges will apply.
