Exhibition at Paris Est Enchères 19 avenue Robert Schumann, 93330 Neuilly-sur-Marne.
Behind the door of this apartment in the Marais district of Paris was a mysterious cabinet of curiosities where seventeenth century marble busts, Tibetan masks and giraffe heads were mixed with shells and hard stones. The curious delicacy of the place allowed the enchantment to mix with a Louis XVI period living room, a coffee table by Christian Liaigre. If you were lucky enough to be invited to dinner, after having crossed the corridor, where on the walls alternated erotic photographs and terracotta profiles of illustrious people, you would have had in your hand Saint Cloud knives from the eighteenth century and antique glass decanters. The living room was full of all kinds of objects, contemporary animal bronzes, Memento Mori as a mark of time, all resting on unique consoles and tables, like this Foujita coffee table with a trompe-l'oeil painted top by the artist.
Everything was curious and marvellous, the atmosphere striking, emanating from the hunting trophies overhanging the room to which responded by sets of antique mirrors, objects of worship originating from all parts of the world. A hymn to nature, animal, mineral, human, assembled by the master-word of passion as an immediate aesthetic postulate and signature of this collector.
