The Cap Eden Roc hotel is getting a makeover and the auction house l'Huillier & Associés will auction off 340 lots from this emblematic Cote d'Azur hotel, nestled since 1870 in a large park to the west of the Cap d'Antibes on February 14.
The sale will be an opportunity to acquire a few "pieces" of the Eden Roc décor: bronze or Venetian glass chandeliers, patinated bronze and gilded bronze sconces, silk Chinese rugs, Oriental carpets or carpets from the Manufacture de Cogolin, watercolors and lithographs by André Brasilier, or a set of very large painted canvases representing, in grisaille, maritime landscapes.
This sale will also allow amateurs to acquire a souvenir from the rooms of Eden Roc, whether those of the castle or the suites of the Eden Roc Pavilion, which all revisit the great classics of French decoration. Flat desks in the Louis XV and Louis XVI style, bedside tables, coffee tables and sofa ends in glass and gilded metal, curtains in toile de Jouy, flowered indian fabrics and embroidered linen made from fabrics from publishers such as Pierre Frey, Manuel Canovas, Thorp of London, Colefax & Fowler, Brunschwig & Fils, Charles Burger etc... But also a large number of lighting fixtures, mainly from Vaughan Designs, make up a third of the lots in this sale. Numerous suites of bedside lamps in the form of Empire style torches, beautiful column lamps in patinated and gilded bronze, urn lamps in sculpted alabaster or large vase lamps in Chinese porcelain.
